Rupert Town Plan Update
Retrospective, Introspective, Prospective
The Town of Rupert is working with BCRC on an update to the Town Plan. This project will involve community engagement throughout the summer of 2026 followed by development of the new plan in the winter and spring of 2027.
Goals of the project:
- Outline strategies to protect and maintain historic character of the Village
- Address updated state laws regarding housing and density requirements
- Develop a mapping interface that integrates community feedback with spatial data to consolidate resources and create a lasting planning and educational tool that will be accessible to officials and residents.
Community Feedback Survey
The Town of Rupert Planning Commission is seeking your input on priorities and objectives as it updates the Town Plan. The Town Plan helps to create a series on long-range planning objectives for development, land use, density, historical preservation, and quality of life. This plan lays a framework for future updates to the Town’s zoning bylaws. Your thoughts and input are critical for helping determine priorities and shaping the future of Rupert.
This survey is separated into three sections: a short survey, a section of additional questions, and demographic questions. All of the following questions are optional and anonymous. Please fill out as much or as little as you like.
Please complete the survey by August 31st. You can visit the Town Office during regular business hours to pick up paper copies of the survey for your household.
Public Engagement Events
- May 28, 2026 @ 7pm – Kick Off Meeting at The United Methodist Church
- A showing of “An Interview with Ed Lourie” produced by Ed Canning and presented by the Rupert Historical Society. Followed by guest speaker Scott Wunderle and a discussion about community-led efforts to preserve Rupert’s historic character.
- June 6, 2026 @ 9 AM – Sheldon Store Coffee Hour
